SEM Made Simple


Structural Equation Modeling or popularly known as SEM is the Second Generation Method of Multivariate Data Analysis. This method is developed to cater the limitations in Ordinary Least Squre (OLS) especially in dealing with latent onstructs and a complex model. AMOS or the Analysis of Moment Structures is the newest software developed for analyzing SEM. Researchers could convert their theoretical framwork into AMOS Graphic for analysis using SEM. With AMOS, the researchers could validate the measurement models of the latent constructs using Confirmory Factor Analysis (CFA) procedure. Once validated, the researcher could move forward with path analysis in SEM to analyze the structural model for testing correlation, causation, meadiation, and moderation effects.

Dr Zainudin Awang is a professor in the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin Kuala Terengganu. Prior to UniSZA, he was with UiTM since 1989. He has more than 25 years’ experience lecturing in various statistical courses at first degree as well as postgraduet level. Among the courses are Regression Analysis & Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), Business Statistics, Manegerial Decision Analysis, Experimental Design & Analysis, Statiscal Theory, Statistical Methods, and Research Methodology. He has written many academic book in his area of specialization. Among the books are Business Statics, Quantitive Business Analysis, Research Proposal, Research Methodology & Data Anlysis, Stuctural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Amos Graphic, and A handbook in SEM for Academicians and practitioners. He is appointed as research consant in a few public and private in the country. He has been conducting various workshop course and consultancies in Structural Equation Modeling foe academicians, practitioners and post graduet research.
